I had read about the San Ysidro Ranch’s dog policy on their website. I was very impressed and hoping I could stay there with my family when they came up to Santa Barbara. I live in Santa Barbara. I thought a luxury “stay-cation” would be a wonderful holiday treat. Unfortunately, SY Ranch was booked up for the Xmas holidays. I decided to book my family into the El Encanto. It’s a beautiful location and I was anxious to see all the upgrades after their recent and lengthy remodel. I would, however, have to decide between staying home and visiting my family when possible or booking and paying for a separate SB stay-cation at Camp Canine for Fionna and Kaylee, my 2 pit mix rescues. Before making a decision, I called the El Encanto, on a whim, and asked them what their dog policy was. I was floored:

There is no size or breed restrictions. Bowls and beds are provided in your room. In room dining provides gluten free kibble and a menu listing of 4-5 elaborate canine fresh entrees. The valet parking staff even offered to take care of my girls while we were at dinner. During our 5 day stay, my dogs were treated like celebrities. $35 a day, per dog, covers beds, bowls, cleaning and plenty of hospitality. The fancy room service entrees are $15. We splurged on our last night–room service and a movie for all.

Thank you so much for this brilliantly informative and heartening comment – it really makes me so happy to hear of properties treating dogs with such style and grace and El Encanto has now shot to top of our hotel wish list! That is especially nice of the valet parking staff. Sounds like Fionna and Kaylee were big hits! Do you have any pics of your girls? Would love to see their beautiful faces! Belinda & Bodie xx
