Does this not look like a fun way to spend the day?! You can swoon at the Supervet (aka Professor Noel Fitzpatrick) in person at The National Pet Show next weekend at London’s ExCel! I’ll be there for his Eukanuba Q&A session as well as SuperDogs Live which gives pups 90 seconds to wow the crowd with categories including Most Talented Dog, Heroic Hound and (can’t wait!) Strictly Doggy Dancing!

Also on must-visit list: Royal Canin Dog Zone with expert talks, live grooming demos and breed enlightenment. Plus adrenalin-fuelled agility in the Nerf Dog Activity Ring and training sessions at Hill’s School 4 Dogs, where even the most disobedient dog can become head pupil! £18.19 for a full day of doggie delights!

Here’s 5 more fab dog-themed events coming up this May in the UK!

PORT ELIOT DOG FESTIVAL & WHIPPET TEA PARTY – May 7th 2016 Cornwall

Port Eliot is a Grade I listed Cornish house/park/garden preparing to welcome hundreds of dogs and owners to enjoy cream teas, artisan foods and live music, as well as participate in such fun classes as ‘Dog who most looks like their Owner’. A highlight of the annual event is Roo and Lark’s Whippet Tea Party where an invitation for lunch and canapés is extended to all whippet friends! Entry is £4.00 per adult, Children under 11 free, and £1.00 per class entry in the dog show.

THE HUNSTANTON FUN DOG SHOW May 14th 2016 Norfolk

A Doggy Pool Party with Free Doggy Bar and treats – how much fun does that sound?! Head to Glebe House School in Hunstanton for Dachshund racing, doggy dancing displays and 12 novelty classes including Waggiest Tail and Best Rescue! There will also be a Pet Photographer and Doggy Masseur. Fantastic!

ST DAVIDS ANNUAL CHARITY HORSE & DOG SHOW May 15th 2016 Wales

As well as the classic equestrian events at Trehenlliw Farm in Pembrokeshire, there will be a ‘dog show for all’ with both Pedigree and Novelty categories, including Best Puppy, Best Junior Handler and Best Veteran Dog. Entry fee £1.50 per class.

DEVON COUNTY SHOW May 19th-21st 2016 Near Exeter

Tweeds ahoy! This looks like some major May-hem! The show sprawls over 93 acres with 750 stands to peruse. I’ll be attending for the first time, guided by my brother Gareth who is a local pro – look out for his entry into the Butter Carving contest! Dog-wise, the judging is divided into groups a la Crufts: Hounds, Toys, Gundogs, Terriers, Working, Pastoral and Utility. All this and real Devon ice-cream. Heaven.

THE NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY SHOW May 30th 2016

Head to Bywell Hall near Stocksfield to test your pal’s retrieval skills or caper around the fun agility course together. There’s also an official Kennel Club competition (link in title) which you would need to register for in advance. All dogs must be on leads and impeccably behaved and steered well clear of the livestock marquees.

If you know of any other great doggie events coming up in May do post a comment!
